Vin Santo del Chianti Rùfina D.O.C.
Vin Santo del Chianti Rùfina reserve 2009 is a traditional Tuscan “passito” wine (that is, made from dried grapes), from the best varieties of Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia del Chianti white grapes. After the harvest, the grapes are dried for three months on the traditional “cannicci” – bamboo beds. The fermentation takes place in the “caratelli”, small oak or chestnut kegs kept in the farm’s attic, for at least four years. The attic location is essential, as good Vin Santo ages throughout sharply hot and cold seasons. After four years, the Vin Santo del Chianti Rùfina DOC is moved to larger oak barrels and aged in bottles for no less than six months.
Our Vin Santo del Chianti Rùfina reserve 2008 is rated 89/100 points in the 2017 edition of "Guida Oro i Vini di Veronelli” and awarded two stars, which define “outstanding” wines.
The Vin Santo del Chianti Rùfina is characterized by amber color, persistent aroma, and dry or sweet taste depending on the vintage. It is ideal for desserts and the tipical Tuscan almond cookies, the “cantucci”.
To be served at room temperature, or chilled at about 15 °C or 60 °F. The alcohol volume varies depending on the vintage. Currently, we are selling the 2008 Vin Santo del Chianti Rùfina DOC, 16.5 % alcohol.
